Animation and Comic Art
Short form animation is an underrated art form that survives because its creators are obsessive about creating work that is constantly challenging audiences. With this series, we are showcasing the link between comics, animation and progressive thought. This series deals with everything from sex to politics that is both humorous and thought provoking created by local animators.
A multimedia reading of Enter Avariz, by comic artist Marc Ngui
Enter Avariz is an allegory of the parasitic culture of modern capitalism, told in a tumbling arcade-inspired narrative. Witness as Ngui and others do voices and sound effects to go along with the comic art stories of the delightfully bouncy Boy Ugly and the other resilient residents of Zak Meadow are sold out, co-opted, harvested, test marketed, junk mailed, genetically modified, prepackaged, networked, off-gassed, discounted, and branded in the pursuit of progress by the relentless Agents of Capitalism.

*ShadowplayDan Blank (16:00)
In August of 1945, in a closing chapter of the Second World War, a blinding flash lit the sky over Hiroshima. The places that were shielded from that searing light became permanent shadows on the city's walls and streets, while the city itself was decimated. "Shadowplay" is the story of Akio, a shadow of a young boy, who wanders the city searching for his family, while trying to make sense of the unfathomable atrocity.
Music:
Before the films, live music by TV on the Radio -- Beatbox, naughty drum machines, bad organ and a shitload of good intentions. Milo Minus, Juno Swift and Macchiatto Jones bring the music to the people!
