If you’re looking for great eclectic films by local filmmakers, look no further than The Filmwax Film Series, a Brooklyn-based film series founded and programmed by our friend Adam Schartoff. We have to say, we like his taste, especially considering all the Rooftop Alums he’s got going on.

Friday, September 16, 7PM, Skid Row: Fugees founding member, Pras, goes homeless man for 9 days with no help, dangerously chooses to have it all filmed.  Specail guests: producer Rob Wisdom, Pras (by Skype), Marc Greenberg from The Interfaith Assembly on Homelessness & Housing, others.

Saturday, September 17, 5PM, (Rooftop Alum) William Kunstler: Disturbing the Universe: a fascinating portrait of the infamous civil rights attorney, co-directed by his 2 daughters. Special guest: Emily Kunstler.

Sunday, September 18, 6PM, (Rooftop Alum) Strongman:  Filmwax’s fall opening film!  Director Zachary Levy to presents his memorable verite-style documentary about the hopes and dreams of strongman performer, Stan “Stanless Steel” Pleskin.  Special guest: Director Zachary Levy.

All screenings to take place at The Fifth Estate, 506 5th Avenue, between 12th & 13th Streets in Park Slope, Brooklyn.  R, F or G train to 4th Avenue/9th Street.
