Rooftop Alum “Burning in the Sun” Gets TV Debut

We’re psyched to share that Rooftop Alums Cambria Matlow and Morgan Robinson’s Burning in the Sun will make its national TV debut on Sunday, January 29, 2012 at 9pm EST & PST, as part of PBS’ AfroPop series. The doc had its World Premiere here at Rooftop in 2009, and we couldn’t be happier for the filmmakers.

Burning in the Sun follows the super charming Daniel Dembele on his quest to bring solar power to his native Mali. For Dembele, this deeply personal project will not only drastically improve the quality of life in his country, but also help empower Malians to decrease their dependence on foreign goods and labor. Dembele’s enthusiasm and charisma hook you in as he develops and implements his solar panel business, and first person testimonies from the villagers he’s helping leave you feeling totally involved, engaged, and inspired.
