New Internships at Rooftop this Spring!

Rooftop films seeks hard working, dedicated individuals for the Winter/Spring season, including a newly created programming intern position! If you’re interested in film festival programming, independent film, arts administration, or non-profit management, apply today! Learn what goes in to preparing and running a non-profit film festival, and see tons of great films along the way.

Internships are unpaid, but can be done for school credit. Candidates would be expected to average at least two days a week in the office, but generally the more time you can commit the better.

Festival Intern (3 positions)

Internship tasks can include:

+ Tracking and requesting new independent films
+ Contacting and corresponding with filmmakers
+ Organizing off-season film screenings
+ Fundraising and grant work
+ Organizing and maintaining film databases
+ Marketing/Outreach/Publicity
+ Print production Audio and video tech work
+ Writing: including the Rooftop blog, social media, press releases
and website content
+ General office work
+ Anything else you might be interested in-we want you to see how we work

Candidates should have good experience working with Microsoft Office (particularly Excel) and experience with Filemaker, HTML, design programs or video editing software is a plus.

Programming Intern (1 position)

Candidates should have a love of independent and foreign film, be motivated and detail oriented with an interest in film and programming. Individualswould work closely with the program director and members of the programming team to assist in the pre-screening and rating of film submissions, and would participate in the overall programming process.

We welcome undergraduate and graduate students, but must have film education (production and/or film studies). Candidates must have excellent organizational and communication skills, and an enthusiasm for film criticism and/or curation. This internship is an excellent opportunity to participate in the programming process of Rooftop Films, and a great way to learn the inner workings of a film festival.

Candidates should be web and computer literate, have superior professional and organizational skills, and be able to work at least 20 hours a week with the possibility of more hours.
