We Need Volunteers for our Summer Series 2005!
We haven't completely finalized our schedule yet, but with what looks like 22-23 nights of film this summer—on Friday nights, some Saturday nights, and Monday the 4th of July—we will need a lot of help. If you think you might be interested in helping us out, please email Festival Director Sarah Palmer at volunteer@rooftopfilms.com. As the season approaches, you will receive an email with more details as to our needs. You may be removed from this list at any time. The more time you put in to helping out Rooftop Films, the more interesting your work will be. Read on for more information.
Volunteering at Rooftop Films is a really worthwhile experience. There are opportunities to see how a film festival is run, as well as meet filmmakers and see many amazing films. Responsibilities include: set-up and break-down of the shows, selling merchandise, selling tickets and other door management, crowd control, and more. There are opportunities to learn about both the technical and non-technical aspects of show set-up.
Internship Opportunities
Although we are no longer accepting applications for Summer 2005 internships, we always need volunteers. See above for more information.
Please email us after July 15 if you would like to apply for a Fall 2005 internship.
Rooftop Films is a non-profit corporation run primarily by volunteers. We rely on our volunteers and interns to help organize our films, get submissions, run our shows, and make our organization work as smoothly as possible. Volunteering or interning is a rewarding experience and the more time you donate to us, the more rewarding your job will be. Previous volunteers have even helped curate shows and become more deeply involved as staff.
Rooftop Films offers Spring (Jan to May), Summer (May to Aug or Sept) and Fall (Sept to Dec) internships, which can be done for school credit. Find out your schools internship or field work credit requirements and we will work with you to accommodate these. We welcome applicants of in their second year of college (or age equivalent) or above.
Internship tasks may include:
+ Previewing film submissions
+ Organizing and maintaining film database
+ Organizing tape library
+ General office work
+ Correspondence with filmmakers
+ Publicity
+ Anything else you might be interested in—we want you to see how we work
In addition, our interns will have an opportunity to learn a variety of technical skills, including Avid and Final Cut Pro digital editing skills.
If you are interested in volunteering or applying for an internship, please e-mail Festival Director Sarah Palmer at volunteer@rooftopfilms.com. The deadline for Summer 2005 internships has passed, but please email us after July 15 if you would like to apply for a Fall Internship.
