SUMMER 2008 INTERNSHIPS
A great opportunity for young filmmakers and film students: learn how a film festival works and see hundreds of great movies.

Rooftop Films is seeking interns for Summer 2008. Applications are due no later than March 31, 2008. The internships can be done for school credit. Find out your school’s internship or field work credit requirements and we will work with you to accommodate them.

Candidates would be expected to average at least two days a week, and generally the more time you can commit the better. Our offices are on the border of Park Slope and Gowanus, near the R, F, M and G trains in Brooklyn, NY so please apply only if you will be able to handle that commute. We welcome graduate students and applicants finishing their 1st year of college (or age equivalent) or older.

Internship tasks include:

+ Tracking and requesting new independent films

+ Organizing outdoor film screenings
+ Contacting and corresponding with filmmakers
+ Organizing and maintaining film databases
+ Logging and capturing films and footage
+ Publicity
+ Organizing our tape library
+ General office work
+ Anything else you might be interested in—we want you to see how we work

Candidates should have good experience working with Microsoft Office (particularly Excel) and experience with graphic design software, Filemaker, HTML, or video editing software is a plus. In addition, our interns will have an opportunity to learn a variety of technical skills, including Avid and Final Cut Pro digital editing skills.

THE ORGANIZATION
Rooftop Films is a non-profit film festival and production collective based in Brooklyn, New York. Founded in 1997, Rooftop Films is a grassroots group that has grown into one of New York's leading film organizations. Above all, we are a community -- a collective collaboration between filmmakers and festivals, between audience members and artists, between venues and neighborhoods. Our goal is to create a vibrant independent filmmaking community that bridges cultural boundaries. At Rooftop Films, we bring the underground outdoors.
