“Kumare” Theatrical Debut at IFC Center June 20th

On May 26 we saw Indian-American filmmaker Virkam Gandhi lead and empower the lives of a group of Arizona citizens by impersonating a real guru in his documentary, Kumare. Prompted by his own spiritual skepticism, Gandhi delicately balances between the lines of a social commentary and a comedic performance by focusing on the evolution of his character, Kumare, and the relationships he develops with his followers. Now, another opportunity to catch his hilariously made-up meditation practices and power of persuasion has arisen. Kumare will have its theatrical launch on June 20th in the IFC Center in NYC. To see just how far Gandhi goes in his rendition, check out the trailer here.

So if you are a social experimenter yourself, happen to be a fan of Borat, or just need a good laugh, come witness Gandhi’s extraordinary performance as local guru Kumare in the IFC’s recently renovated, state-of-the-art cinemas.
