Rooftop Filmmaker’s ‘Charade’: How You Can Help

Experimental filmmaker and visual artist Salise Hughes, whose short How to Draw Clouds is screening on Saturday, July 28th at the Old American Can Factory before Grandma Lo-Fi, is currently fundraising for her newest project in development. Charade will be a short film that explores the nature of identity through manipulated footage of the 1963 film Charade starring Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn.

In Hughes’ own words, “the film is full of people who are not who they say they are, including the actors themselves. I’ve heard many stories of people who have changed their names, lied about their past and created new identities. The reasons for this kind of deception intrigue me”.

For independent filmmakers who fundraise, produce, and distribute their work on a shoestring, even the smallest contribution counts. Hughes is fundraising for Charade through USA Projects (similar to crowd sourcing creative fundraising websites Kickstarter and IndieGoGo). You can read more about her project and donate here.
