Byron Hurt’s “Soul Food Junkies” Hits Lincoln Center August 30th

“One day I am going to show a film of mine at Lincoln Center,” states Byron Hurt, independent filmmaker and friend of Rooftop Films. That was in 1994 and 18 years later, Hurt’s dream will finally be fulfilled as his award-winning documentary “Soul Food Junkies” will be premiering at Film Society of Lincoln Center on August 30th. “Soul Food Junkies” took home the title for “Best Documentary” at the American Black Film Festival in June and will soon be at a theater near you!

The event is presented by ImageNation Cinema Foundation and the Film Society of Lincoln Center in association with God Bless the Child Productions, AKILA WORKSONGS, and Firelight Media’s Producer’s Lab. Hip Hop duo Dead Prez will start the event with a live performance and the film will be followed by a panel discussion featuring poet and activists Sonia Sanchez, Dr. Marc Lamont Hill, and Dr. Aletha Maybank.

Join us in supporting Byron Hurt and his new film, “Soul Food Junkies,” by coming out August 30th 7:00PM at the Lincoln Center. For more information about the event, check out the facebook page and to get more excited about the screening, watch the trailer here!
