Solar One, a venue we have used since 2005, has sustained major damage during Hurricane Sandy.
There was extensive damage to the Solar One building and park and they have lost the performance stage, storage sheds, all of their tools and some of the facility’s siding. The stage, which had been on the South side of Solar One, was demolished by the East River and ended up on the North side of Solar One when it was all over and Solar One had 2 feet of water in it.
Volunteers and donations are needed.
If you can get over to 23rd Street and the East River this Friday, November 2 and Saturday, November 3 from 10am-4pm, they can really use your help. Please email dina@solar1.org to let them they know you’re coming to assist.
