Ep 183: Alexandre Rockwell

[powerpress]

Filmmaker Alexandre Rockwell is the guest on the first new 2014 episode of Filmwax Radio. Rockwell came on the indie film scene in the late 80’s/early 90’s along with the likes of Quentin Tarantino, Jim Jarmusch & Spike Lee. His early feature, In The Soup starring a then a very young Steve Buscemi, came out in 1992 and became a cult hit.  Since those heady days, Rockwell has been making a number of other films (Four Rooms, Somebody to Love, Pete Smalls is Dead) as well as teaching film at NYU.  Returning to bare basics, Rockwell is back with a new film called Little Feet. The film follows two kids (Rockwell’s own daughter and son) on a journey through the streets of L.A. bringing their lonely pet fish to the river. Shot on 16mm in lesser seen locations in L.A., the film might just restore your faith in American independent filmmaking. The film had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival and will have its New York premiere at the First Look series at the Museum of the Moving Image on Friday, January 10th. See website for tickets and further details.
