Students: Join the Rooftop Films Team this Fall

Attention students! Ever wonder what it takes to run a film festival? Ever think to yourself “I wonder what does Rooftop do in the off season?” Ever wonder how we go from thousands of submissions to hundreds of amazing films to show on the roof each year? Intern with us this fall, and you’ll learn all that and more.

A Rooftop Films internship is a great opportunity for film, arts administration and nonprofit management students as well as young filmmakers: learn how a nonprofit film festival works and see hundreds of great movies. Individuals would work with members of the programming team to assist in the pre-screening and rating of film submissions, and would participate in the overall programming process.

We welcome undergraduate and graduate students, (film education, production and/or film studies a plus). Candidates should have excellent organizational and communication skills, and an enthusiasm for film criticism and/or curation. This internship is an excellent opportunity to participate in the programming process of Rooftop Films, and a great way to learn the inner workings of a film festival.

Candidates would be expected to average at least two days a week in the office, but generally the more time you can commit the better.

Internship tasks can include:
+ Tracking and requesting new independent films
+ Contacting and corresponding with filmmakers
+ Organizing off-season film screenings
+ Fundraising and grant work
+ Organizing and maintaining film databases
+ Marketing/Outreach/Publicity
+ Audio and video tech work
+ Writing: including the Rooftop blog, social media, press releases and website content
+ General office work
+ Anything else you might be interested in-we want you to see how we work

Candidates should have good experience working with Microsoft Office (particularly Excel) and experience with Filemaker, HTML, design programs or video editing software is a plus.

To apply please send a cover letter, resume and references to: intern@rooftopfilms.com. Please include “Fall Internship” in the subject line of your email. Applications are due no later than September 12, 2014.
