John Waters Filthy World at Basilica Hudson

On Saturday October 18th, Rooftop friends and partners Basilica Hudson are proud to be hosting iconic, pioneering filmmaker John Waters (Pink Flamingos, Hairspray, Crybaby) taking on on taboo topics as only he can do in his hilarious and completely uncensored one-man show This Filthy World, Volume 2”.

Waters will be arriving on the heels of his recent Lincoln Center Retrospective, celebrating his 50 years in film and his recent bestselling book release Carsick: John Waters Hitchhikes Across America. Waters, who has been dubbed “the Pope of Trash” and branded “O for Offensive” by the Catholic Church, earned his bad reputation by turning bad taste into high art. Part confession, part Vaudeville act, he’ll share with a live theater audience in Hudson his origins in the trash genre and his subsequent adventures navigating everything from fashion to true crime.

This special event will help raise funds for Basilica’s Film & Media Programming and will also benefit the AIDS Council of Northeastern New York. Your support helps the Basilica’s effort to bring renowned filmmakers and artists to the Hudson Valley area. Basilica’s previous events – including the weekend of film BasilicaScope and legendary music + art happening Basilica SoundScape have been featured in The New York Times, The New Yorker, Artinfo and PAPERMAG, among others.
