Weird and Wonderful Rooftop Events

Please consider donating to the Rooftop Films Kickstarter.

These types of asks are awkward, we get it. We’re not professional fundraisers, we’re film lovers, just like you. But we depend on your support to create wild and innovative events like the ones pictured below.

It a time when audiences have unlimited options available at their fingertips, the staff here at Rooftop Films pride ourselves on finding unique and innovative ways to bring spectacular and meaningful film and music events to the roofs, streets, parks, and waterways of New York City. Here is a list of some of the most bananas screenings we’ve hosted.

We begin with a beautiful shot of our set-up
here along the still waters of the Gowanus Canal…

which we sometimes take to train terminals, like this screening of North by Northwest in Vanderbilt Hall of Grant Central Terminal in 2017;

amusement parks, like with this screening of Beach Rats on Coney Island;

and churches like The Africa Yoga Project and St. Bart’s, 2016!

Our screenings aren’t just about the incredible venues;
they are once-in-a-lifetime film events.

Sometimes the audience bikes TO GENERATE POWER…

other times, the director BIKES TO THE SHOW, and still at others…

the audience dances along! But they are always so active…

some screenings ask that audience only spectate…

sit among the vegetables of a rooftop farm…

or sit among the windows of the city.

Some events ask the film-goer to face some fears…

and crawl into a tunnel under Brooklyn’s busy Atlantic Avenue…

or watch among the coffins…

and gravestones.

And a cemetery is a good place to end things, like blog posts.
